DESCRIPTION
The Australian Lunar Series III 2024 Year of the Dragon 1oz Gold Bullion Coin with Dragon Privy Mark is a limited-mintage release celebrating the fifth animal of the Chinese zodiac. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1 troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold, this distinctive bullion coin combines exceptional gold purity, Lunar symbolism and highly collectible appeal.
Designed by Ing Ing Jong, the reverse portrays a Chinese mythical dragon surrounded by stylised waves and fog, symbolising the dragon's traditional command over the elements. The design incorporates a special dragon privy mark, the Chinese character for “dragon”, the inscription “DRAGON 2024”, and a “P125” mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint's 125th anniversary.
The obverse features the Jody Clark Memorial Obverse of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign, “1952–2022”. The coin's weight, purity and AUD $100 monetary denomination also appear on the obverse.
For additional security, the coin incorporates a micro-laser engraved authentication feature designed to make counterfeiting significantly more difficult. Each coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule. With a maximum worldwide mintage of just 3,000, this special Dragon Privy Mark release offers additional appeal for collectors alongside its intrinsic gold value.
